Vision
It is the vision of the Economic Development Department to establish a Pueblo-wide economic system that fosters long-term sustainable development, self-determination and a strong business environment that supports the tribal economy and provides for future generations of the Pueblo.
Mission
It is the mission of the Economic Development Department to provide nation building services that support the legal, economic and commercial infrastructure, tribal businesses growth, tribal entrepreneurship, tribal employment opportunities, garner community and economic development resources and provide strategic planning support to promote the tribal economy.
Overview
Sustained economic development is vital to the perseverance of culture and economic progress of the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo (“Pueblo”) and the mechanism by which the Pueblo will create a system that permits the tribe to reach its highest economic potential. The Pueblo is committed to meeting tribal needs through strategic direction that concentrates on the growth and enhancement of the Pueblo. Hence, the tribe’s Economic Development Office was established to explore, develop and expand tribal economic development and enterprises in order to strengthen the Pueblo’s self-sufficiency.
2007 and 2008 Goals and Objectives
The Economic Development Department will address the following goals and objectives in 2007 and 2008:

Prepare Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS).

Foster economic development infrastructure and policy that promotes planning; strategic decision making; and attracts business and investors.

Facilitate, guide and support the Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) into a viable and long-standing tribal entity

Work closely with current tribal business managers and provide technical assistance or support.

Facilitate or arrange for tribal members’ business training.

Establish and Implement Tigua Inc. Development Corporation.

Support the Tigua Inc. Board
-
Obtain public and private funding and that fosters community, social, project and economic development.
