The Ysleta del Sur Pueblo (“the Pueblo”) is a federally recognized U.S. American Indian tribe located in West Texas and within El Paso County. The Pueblo is one of three tribes located in Texas and the only Pueblo located in the state. The tribal community is also known as “Tigua.” The Pueblo was founded in 1682 after the Pueblo Revolt of 1680. The tribe has maintained its traditional political system and ceremonial practices and continues to flourish as a Pueblo community. The tribal enrollment is over 1600. Ysleta del Sur Pueblo has also established itself as an important economic contributor in El Paso’s lower valley.

The Pueblo has adapted to the business community and for almost 40 years it has owned and operated tribal businesses that provide employment for its members and the El Paso community. The tribe owns and operates a diverse set of tribal enterprises and corporations. The common goal of all tribal businesses is to advance the tribe toward self-determination and self-governance. Tribal businesses contribute to r tribal community development. We strive to establish a business friendly environment and at the same time address the unique needs and heritage of the Pueblo.

By participating in the local economy, Ysleta del Sur Pueblo is also empowered to plan its strategic direction and the realization of its economic goals, not only for the tribe, but all stakeholders who play a role in the economic development of the Pueblo. As a result, the tribe is currently engaged in a nation building process and has created economic development initiatives that are beneficial to the Pueblo as well as companies and individuals it does business with.
